Ok, I'm your parents' age, so I know I'm no hip, cool young thing...and by using words like "cool" and "hip," I feel like I'm giving pretty strong evidence to that fact! ha! BUT I AM aware of my own "cringy" ways. I was born in the 1900s for crying out loud! And while today's fashion trends make me strangely nostalgic for my high school days, I know who I am...and that's a mom who makes more "mom jokes" than any mom should.

But I have held a camera since you were in preschool, and I've learned a thing or two about posing and composition in that time, so just know, I'll make you look good! I'm going to take photos that capture everything about who you are at this fun and exciting milestone in life! And I'll keep your mom entertained while we're doing it! Heck, we might even become BFFs in the process! Do y'all even say "BFF" anymore?! I bet your mom does!

it's all about

the details

Hi, friend! Do you ever look at your almost-adult and see the five-year-old version of him or her staring back at you à la the scene in Father of the Bride (1991) where Annie tells her father that she's getting married, and all he sees is the kindergarten version of her giving him the news?! Yep! ME, TOO! It's crazy how this once-itty-bitty is now grown up enough to be graduating high school, right?! And you'll be launching this YOUNG ADULT into the world in less than a year! WHAT?! It's terrifying and exciting all at the same time!

But first things first: we need photos. I know just what to do! Come along and watch me direct your senior and snap some photos while being ridiculous and just a little bit cringe, and we'll have a good ole' time! Or, if you prefer, send me off with your progeny while you take a moment to sit and reminisce over a warm latté in a lovely cafe! I will take great care of them and deliver some photos that will take your breath away!

Ready to book?

My regular sessions are usually done in natural light, so we would meet 1-2 hours before sunset. I like to take a few minutes before we start to give some general posing tips and answer any questions you might have, and then we're off! We will move around the location utilizing a variety of backgrounds. I will give you some direction if you want it, but you're always welcome to bring your own poses and ideas! I do a variety of large-scale environmental, full-length subject, 3/4th subject, waist-up and close up photos during the course of the session.

I suggest that you come to the session dressed in your most complicated outfit so that it's easier to change into things as we go. Unless we are at a location that has an accessible restroom, wardrobe changes are typically done in a car--either yours or mine! Whichever has the darker tint, right?!

If you have anything you want to bring to be photographed with, let me know and we can plan to include those, as well. Letterman jackets, sports gear, college acceptance letters, pendants and banners, metals and awards, cap and gown, etc. are all great to have on-hand and can be worked into any portion of the session. If you want to do a more dedicated sport or activity-themed session, I have package add-ons that we can talk about in more detail, as well!

What does a typical session look like?

There is SO much flexibility when scheduling senior sessions, BUT time is fleeting and graduation day will be here in a blink! Some things to consider:
  • Fall is a great time for a session! The start of your senior year is so exciting and fresh! The slightly cooler weather allows for a wider range of wardrobe options, and it gives you plenty of time for the rest of the senior year activities and expenses without having squeeze something else into the calendar.
  • Winter is good for many of the same reasons. Winters in the hill country are usually pretty mild but cool enough to allow for some fun chunky sweaters or heavy coat wardrobe choices but not so cold that you couldn't do a lighter option for versatility!
  • Spring! Oh, the spring is full of excitement and anticipation, so getting photos done then just adds to the fun! Also, have we mentioned that this area is absolutely gorgeous in the spring?! Wildflowers galore, right?! Spring will always be a great time to plan a session!
  • Summer is fantastic if you want to get a jump on things before the school year gets going. It's also a smart idea for people who got too busy to book a senior session before graduation but still want those photos to commemorate the occasion! The days may be warm, but the light is beautiful and the temperatures are manageable just before sunset which is always the best time to shoot!
Yes! Definitely! I cut my teeth on family photography, and I love to shoot a variety of things from weddings and events to headshots and branding images. My focus is senior photography, but I am open to other inquiries...except for posed newborn photography, that is. I will do lifestyle newborn+family sessions, but posing a newborn takes a specialized skillset that is not in my wheelhouse! I do know some absolutely AMAZING newborn photographers, though! I'm happy to give referrals!

When should I book my session?

Do you photograph anything else besides seniors?

My goal is to get your images to you in a timely manner, but because my process involves a little back-and-forth between the two of us, some of that will depend on you and how quickly you respond. I will send a proofing gallery within three days of the session. Your proofing gallery will be active for one month. After you've made your selections, I will send a contact sheet to confirm selections. Once confirmed, I will have your fully edited gallery available and ready for download within two weeks.

If you have product selections to make, those will happen during the editing process, and I will set up a time to hand-deliver physical products as soon as I receive them. If you need a rush for any reason, just let me know and I will talk with you directly about that sort of thing.

What is your turnaround time?

The short answer is NO! But not for the reasons you may fear. I would never gatekeep good images! Promise! I am looking for fleeting expressions and timeless moments, but I also get lots of blinks, talking expressions, and awkward movements as you shift and change your pose. You don't want to weed through the dross to find the gold. That's my job!

I will send a proofing gallery with a curated set of your best images. From that set, you will choose the photos you want to keep and then I will do a very detailed fine edit on those selections. I comb over every image to remove distractions and make sure you shine your brightest! You're welcome to select the number of images that fit what you want to take away from this session.

Do I get all of the images from my session?

Styling is really important when you are planning for your photo session! Not in a "everything needs to look like I'm walking off of the runway" way, but more that you want what you wear to reflect who you are in the very best way possible. I have a MUCH more detailed styling guide that I send to my clients, but my general suggestions are this:  Choose clothing and styles that you are comfortable wearing. Same goes for hair and make-up choices. My general tips for everyone is to iron/fluff everything so that there are no wrinkles or creases, and plan it all out ahead of the session so that you are organized and able to change quickly between looks.
